Ecolabnet

Ecolabnet is a project funded by Interreg Baltic Sea Region which aims to create a network of service providers for supporting eco-innovations in manufacturing SMEs of Baltic Sea Region.

Background

The competences of the network include knowledge in additive manufacturing, bio-based materials, product-service system design, eco-branding, value chain assessment, business model development, legislation, customer insights, certifications and life cycle assessment.

Prototypes in manufacturing eco-Innovations

In 2020, the project partners developed prototypes to demonstrate capability of Ecolabnet to support manufacturing SMEs when they deal with the sustainable eco-innovations.

The prototype development will integrate the entire project’s development work into concrete cases and will demonstrate how service packages and collaborative working practice developed in the project are utilized in practice.

Partners

Ecolabnet has 11 partners as beneficiaries and 16 associated partners to support the project in reaching its main goals. Overall partnership consists of 7 research & development institutes, 7 business support organisations, 1 public service provider & 12 small and medium-sized enterprises. Partnership covers 6 countries in the Baltic Region.

Event

The main event was organised November 16th 2021. The 139 participants represented public RDI organisations (28%), manufacturing SMEs (20%), private RDIs (7,6%), private intermediary organisations (17%). The main event aimed at increasing knowledge about technologies, design and business solutions for eco-innovation as well as creating connections between RDIs, IOs, and SMEs. The panel discussed about future collaboration in eco-innovation and presented main results of the project (4.1, 4.2, 4,4, 3.6, 2.) in a blog post. 3 demonstrations produced in ECOLABNET were presented and participants discussed together with eco-innovators about the cases. 

During the main event, the Ecolabnet presidency 2022 was announced (based on GA 2.5), service packages (GA 3.5) and digital collaboration tool (GA 3.6) were presented. The participants were engaged with ECOLABNET members (based on GA 2.6) in following topics (based on GA 4.1): ecological product and service design, ecological production methods, eco-certification, eco-branding and scaling up eco-innovation. Lastly a keynote speaker highlighted the needs for holistic renewal and policy development in eco-innovation. 

The event and results were communicated via the project website and Linkedin
